The Center for Senior Wellbeing was created through the merger of two long-standing pillars of support in Fallbrook: the Foundation for Senior Care and the Fallbrook Senior Center. Each organization brought decades of commitment, compassion, and service to local older adults – and together, they formed a stronger, more comprehensive resource for seniors, families, and caregivers.
Founded in 1979 as the Fallbrook Hospital Foundation, the organization evolved over the decades to meet the changing needs of the community. In 1998, it became the Fallbrook Healthcare Foundation, focusing on local healthcare needs, and by 2000, it had opened an adult day care facility and a senior resource center. Key programs followed, including the Care Van Transportation program in 2004 and the Support and Referral Advocacy program in 2005. In 2008, reflecting its focus on older adults, the organization adopted the name Foundation for Senior Care, continuing its mission of advocacy, education, and caregiving support.
Established in 1974, the Fallbrook Senior Center has been a vibrant hub for older adults, offering recreational, educational, and social programs. Its meal program, started in 1978, nourished and connected seniors, offering a place for friendship and belonging. In 1980, the Center expanded services to include movement, fitness, and leisure activities, and in 1987, it moved to the Heald Lane building, providing an accessible and welcoming space for generations of older adults.
Recognizing a shared mission – and the growing needs of our senior population – the two nonprofits merged to create the Center for Senior Wellbeing. This new organization combines the strengths, services, and traditions of both legacies while expanding opportunities for innovation and community impact.
Today, the Center for Senior Wellbeing provides a unified hub for care support, wellness programs, social connection, and essential services designed to help seniors thrive. Guided by compassion and strengthened by collaboration, we are dedicated to ensuring that every older adult in Fallbrook and the surrounding communities has access to the support they deserve.
