Senior of the Month Celebration, Carol Wood

This September, we are proud to honor Carol Wood as our Senior of the Month ‒ a longtime educator and community leader whose compassion, dedication and commitment to helping others have made a lasting difference in the Bonsall community.

After 32 years of teaching at Bonsall Elementary School, Carol retired but continued to look for ways to make a difference. She recognized that some children in the school district had limited access to nutritious food on the weekends and understood how closely good nutrition every day is connected to a child’s ability to learn.

That commitment led Carol to found Love On Your Back, a nonprofit organization that, through its backpack program, provides nutritious food to students to help sustain them over the weekend when they are not receiving meals at school.

Carol’s story is one of seeing a need and choosing to do something about it. Her years of teaching, followed by her continued commitment to children and families in our community, reflect a deep belief in the importance of caring for others.

We are honored to celebrate Carol for the many ways she has given of herself to our community and for the difference she continues to make in the lives of others. Her example reminds us that a life of service can continue to make an impact long after a career has ended.
